Buschvitz

Buschvitz is a German municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The community is managed by the Office Bergen auf Rügen, located in the eponymous city.

Geography and transport

Buschvitz is about 5 km northeast of Bergen auf Rügen on a county road. Federal highway 196 runs south of the community. The Federal Highway 96 runs through the town Buschvitz, passing through the villages Prisvitz and Strüßendorf that are also on the railway line Stralsund - Sassnitz. In the community Buschvitz near the village Strüßendorf in the hall 1 on the parcel 53 is the calculated geographic center of the island. The village lies on the edge of Muttlandes the Little Jasmund.

The quarters are Buschvitz, Prisvitz, Stedar and Strüssendorf.

History

The area was part of the Principality of Rügen to 1326 and then the Duchy of Pomerania. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 Rügen was and thus the area of Buschvitz a part of Swedish Pomerania. In 1815 Buschvitz came as part of Neuvorpommern the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Since 1818 Buschvitz belonged to the circle or district Rügen. Only in the years 1952 to 1955 it was the county mountains belong. The village belonged until 1990 to Rügen county in the district of Rostock and in the same year part of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The 1990 re- designated as the Rügen was 2011 in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen.
