Gremersdorf-Buchholz

Gremersdorf -Buchholz is a municipality in the district west of Pomerania Vorpommern - Rügen. The community is managed by the Office Franzburg- Richtenberg with headquarters in the city Franzburg and is one of the largest surface area communities in office area.

Geography and transport

Gremersdorf - Buchholz is located about 15 km west of Pomerania and about 11 km east of Tribsees. South of the village runs the federal highway 20 on the list Pommern - West Connection (approx. 10 km) can be reached. South of the village flows the Cernosin. The northern part of the municipality ( district Wolf Village ) is surrounded by extensive woodlands. In the vicinity of Gremersdorf several wind farms were built.

History

Both places are first mentioned in the mid 13th century in documents. The territory belonged to 1326 the Principality of Rügen, to then fall to the Duchy of Pomerania. After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belongs to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The territory was then until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Stralsund in the district of Rostock. Since 1990 Gremersdorf and Buchholz belong to the state of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Since 13 June 1999, the municipalities Gremersdorf and beech wood together form the community Gremersdorf -Buchholz.
