In office Franzburg- Richtenberg (District of Vorpommern - Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern) two cities and eight municipalities are joined together to do their administrative business. The office is located in the administrative office belonging to Country City Franzburg. The Office was the communities Gremersdorf, Buchholz, Oebelitz, Millienhagen, Velgast and Weitenhagen formed on 25 March 1992 from the cities Franzburg and Richtenberg as well. On 6 July 1994, the formerly independent communities of Old Hagen and Schuenhagen were integrated into the community Velgast. On 13 June 1999, the municipalities Gremersdorf and Buchholz to the municipality Gremersdorf -Buchholz and the communities Oebelitz and Millienhagen merged to community Millienhagen - Oebelitz. The community Papenhagen came on 1 January 2004 out of the former Office Kronskamp to the Official Franzburg- Richtenberg. On 15 February 2004, the municipalities Glewitz, Splietsdorf and Wendish Baggendorf were added from the dissolved Official Trebeltal.

The office area has a large north-south extent ( 35 km ) and reaches from the Barthetal in the center of the county on the Cernosin lowlands to the border of the district of Mecklenburg Lake District in the south. The area is flat to undulating flat - the highest elevation reached 38 m above sea level. NHN ( at Franzburg ).

History

In the 12-13. Century the region was scarcely populated and part of the mainland of the Principality of Rügen. In 1232 approved Rügen I. Prince Wizlaw the Cistercian order the construction of a monastery. The then newly established monastery Neuenkamp was built by monks from the monastery Kamp on the Lower Rhine. In the following, we built an abbey church. The monastery Neuenkamp was replaced in 1535 by a castle, the abbey church by a castle church.

1587 was the reigning Duke of Pomerania Bogislaw XIII. at the site of the former monastery of the city Franzburg founded.

The present city Franzburg has about 1800 inhabitants. Tourist magnets Franz Petersburg are mainly the old town hall, the castle church and the 600 -acre conservation area Hellberge.

The city Richtenberg already existed before the founding New Kamps and was handed over to the monastery founded this. In Richtenberg the monks built around 1400, a three-aisled hall church, which was supplemented in 1500 by a steeple. Richtenberg has always been known for its tradition continues to this day distillery.

The place Velgast features for the office today primarily for his railway connections to Hamburg, Rostock and Stralsund.
