The Office is located in the district of Vorpommern - Altenpleen Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). In office Altenpleen the six municipalities Altenpleen, United Mohrdorf, Klaus village ( near Stralsund ), Kramerhof, Preetz ( near Stralsund ) and Prohn have joined forces to do their administrative business. The administrative headquarters is located in the municipality Altenpleen.
The office area stretches from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Official Niepars in the south. The west of the office adjacent to the Grabow, a part of the Barth Bodden and the east borders the Prohner Wiek and Stralsund. South-east is the city of Stralsund. Up on the Prohner creek and the reservoir Prohner there is no significant inland waters in office. The north of the office is part of the National Park Boddenlandscape. The island of Bock and the Big Werder Peninsula pertain to the office area.
Economically only agriculture is worth mentioning also the Tourism plays a major role. Larger industrial settlements, there are only in the vicinity of Stralsund. In Kramer Hofer district Parow is the naval engineering school of the German Navy.
Through the Office Altenpleen cause no federal roads. The Office, however, is connected with good transport over the city of Stralsund. West of The Office is located in the Baltic Sea airport Stralsund Barth.
