Lancken-Granitz

Lancken -Granitz is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The community is managed by the Office Moenchgut -Granitz, located in the municipality Baabe.

Geography

Lancken -Granitz is located about 15 kilometers east of Bergen auf Rügen and four kilometers west of Sellin, south of the Granitz, whose highest point is the hunting lodge Granitz. Federal highway 196 runs through the community. In the south Lancken -Granitz borders the rügischen Bodden Bay and Having to Neuensiener lake. The municipality is located partly in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.

History

Lancken -Granitz was first documented in 1250. The construction of the church took place in the 15th century.

The fact that the area around Lancken -Granitz was already inhabited in the Neolithic period, in the seven megalithic tombs, which are one-half mile southwest of the town.

The place was until 1326 part of the Principality of Rügen and then the Duchy of Pomerania. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 complaints and thus the area of Lancken -Granitz became a part of Swedish Pomerania. In 1815 Lancken -Granitz came as part of Neuvorpommern the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Since 1818 belonged Lancken -Granitz ( until 1950 described as Lancken ) to the circuit or district Rügen. Only in the years 1952 to 1955 it was the county Putbus belonging. The village belonged until 1990 to Rügen county in the district of Rostock and in the same year part of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The 1990 re- designated as the Rügen was 2011 in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen.

Policy

After 10 years in office came in 2005 Mayor Klaus -Dieter Golle ( Wählergemeinschaft Citizens for Lancken -Granitz ) back. The work carried out on June 19, 2005 elections Marion Evers was ( also WG BfLG ) selected. Following the resignation of Marion Evers in autumn 2006, it came on 21 January 2007 on a new election of the mayor. The only candidate Klaus -Dieter Golle was elected by a large majority. At the local elections in June 2009 was long-term mayor Golle not for the office of mayor for election. By a large majority Henny Hoffmann (independent) was elected as his successor.
