Kluis

Kluis is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office West Rügen based in the community Samtens.

Geography

The community Kluis on Duwenbeek, the only major streams on Rügen, is located in the island of Rügen Muttland about twelve kilometers north-west of Bergen auf Rügen and seven kilometers northeast of Gingst.

To Kluis include the districts Gagern Pansevitz and Silenz.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was adopted on 17 February 1989 by the local council and registered under No. 8 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: "In green a silver wave oblique beams, covered with a black double hook and accompanied. Above by a gold -reinforced silver bovine head, down from an oblique golden ear of corn "

The coat of arms was designed by the Sagarder Gerhard Koggelmann.

Flag

The flag of the municipality is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth of green - white - green striped. The green strips each take a quarter of the white strips takes up half the length of the bunting. In the middle of the white stripe, the municipal coat of arms, which occupies two thirds of the height of the flag cloth is. The length of the bunting is related to height as 5:3.

History

The area was part of the Principality of Rügen to 1326 and then the Duchy of Pomerania. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 Rügen was and thus the area of Kluis a part of Swedish Pomerania. In 1815 Kluis came as part of Neuvorpommern the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Since 1818 Kluis belonged to the circle or district Rügen. Only in the years 1952 to 1955 it was the county mountains belong. The village belonged until 1990 to Rügen county in the district of Rostock and in the same year part of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The 1990 re- designated as the Rügen was 2011 in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen.

From Kluis from roads lead to B 96 on Gingst to Samtens and to Bergen on Rügen and Wittower on the ferry to the peninsula Wittow.
