The international airport Minangkabau ( Indonesian Bandara Internasional Minangkabau, IATA: PDG, ICAO: WIPT ) is the airport of Padang, the capital of the province Sumatera Barat. He started operation on 22 July 2005 and replaced the airport near the city of Padang - tabing. The airport was named after the locally-based Minangkabau ethnic group. Also, the architecture of the passenger building is inspired by the style of the Minangkabau houses.

Airport grounds

The only start and runway runs in a north -south direction and about 500 meters parallel to the coast. The main advance, one a kilometer long runway and the terminal buildings are located to the east of the runway.

Both passengers a national and international flights are handled spatially separated in the single terminal building. The building has 17 check- in counters and baggage claim five bands. Passengers can board the aircraft via two passenger boarding bridges.

Planning
