Mincio

Mincio at Peschiera del Garda

Mincio is a river in northern Italy. He has three source rivers Sarca di Genova and the Sarca di Nambrone arise in the Presanella in the province of Trento and unite in Pinzolo with the Sarca di Campiglio Madonna di Campiglio (Valle di Campiglio ) for Fiume Sarca ( Rendena ) as part the Judicaria. This is now flowing under the name Sarca through the Valle del Laghi and finally at Torbole in Lake Garda. He leaves the lake as a navigable river under the name Mincio flows from Peschiera del Garda to Goito hills and flows, after he has made the water areas of Mantua, at Governolo in the butt on the left. Its length is as Sarca, that is, from the source to the mouth of the lake, 78 km and the Mincio, that is, from the effluent from the Lake Garda in Peschiera del Garda up to Governolo, 75 km away.

The water-rich river forms a given by nature, enhanced by the Adige line line of defense, so here created the famous Quadrilateral of the Austrians ( Peschiera - Mantua -Verona- Legnano ) and numerous battles ( Castiglione 1796 Goito and Governolo 1848 Solferino and San Martino in 1859, Custozza (1848 ) and Custozza (1866 ) ) were defeated. Austria then coined the slogan " Germany is defended on the Mincio ."

The Sarca river flows through the town of Arco and there is a very popular seaside resort, especially the Sarca Bridge and the dam on the Sarca are very popular.
