Castiglione delle Stiviere

Castiglione delle Stiviere is a city south of Lake Garda in the province of Mantua in Italy. It has 22,583 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) and an area of ​​42 km ².

History

In the vicinity of the site the Battle of Castiglione took place on August 5, 1796. During the Italian campaign, Napoleon Bonaparte an attack by the Austrians under their commander Dagobert Sigmund von Wurmser was blocked.
