Under this designation it existed until 1993. During the time the Italian regions took over more and more skills, which is why the original tasks of the Ministry declined rapidly. For this reason it was abolished by referendum in 1993. This resulted in the problem that Italy at the European level as in the past could no longer involved in the common agricultural policy and no national coordinating authority was present. For this reason, the " Ministry for the Coordination of Agricultural Policy ", which was even renamed twice in the course until it received its present name was established in 2006 shortly after the referendum.
