Miňovce

Miňovce (Hungarian Minyevágása - to 1902 Minyóc ) is a municipality in the district Stropkov in eastern Slovakia.

The community Miňovce on the left ( eastern ) bank of the Ondava is located about halfway between the county and the city Stropkov VeLka Domaša reservoir. The Ondavatal is about one to two kilometers wide in the area Miňovces. The surrounding mountains of the Highlands Ondavská ( Ondauer Bergland ) reach heights of 500 meters above the sea.

Miňovce is located on the Highway 15 ( Slovak name: I/15 ), which runs from Svidník to Vranov nad Topľou and acts as part of the transit route of south-eastern Poland to Hungary.

1430, the village was first mentioned in a document. The Greek - Catholic Church was built in 1838.

The population of the parish increased in recent years (1991: 310 inhabitants; 2007: 359 inhabitants). The population is almost 99 % of Slovaks. 73 % of residents gave as a confession of Greek Catholic, 25% profess the Orthodox Church.
