Minuscule 57

Minuscule 57 ( in the Gregory- Aland numbering ), δ 255 ( von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelhandschrift of the New Testament on 291 parchment leaves ( 22.5 x 19 cm). Using palaeography was dated the manuscript to the 12th century.

Description

The Code contains the text of the New Testament except Revelation with two gaps (Mark 1.1 to 11 and end). It was written one column with 25 rows. The code contains psalms and hymns. It contains κεφαλαια that is missing Eusebische canon.

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text-type and the category V is assigned.

History

The manuscript was examined by Hammond, John Mill, Wettstein, and Gregory.

The Code is currently in Magdalen College ( Gr. 9) in Oxford.
