Minuscule 78

Minuscule 78 ( in the Gregory- Aland numbering ), ε 1209 ( von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelhandschrift of the New Testament on 296 parchment leaves ( 20.8 × 15 cm). Using palaeography was dated the manuscript to the 12th century. The manuscript is complete.

Description

The manuscript contains the text of the four Gospels. He has written one column with 22 rows. The manuscript contains Eusebische tables, lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, lectionary markings, Synaxarion and images.

Text

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Byzantine text-type. Kurt Aland placed it in Category V. He belonged to the family of texts Kx.

History

The handwriting was as Code 77 the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus ( 1458-1490 ). Around 1686 the manuscript came into the hands of Samuel Benedict Carpzov ( 1647-1707 ) in Dresden, then to his son Johann Gottlob Carpzov ( 1679-1767 ), after IV in the possession of Johann Benedict Carpzov, a professor in Helmstedt († 1803).

The Code is currently in the Széchenyi National Library ( Cod Graec. 1) in Budapest.
