Missinaibi River

The Missinaibi River (French Rivière Missinaibi ) is a 426 km long river in northern Ontario, Canada.

The Missinaibi River joins near Moosonee with the Mattagami River and forms the Moose River, which flows later in the James Bay. Since the flow through the Michipicoten River is connected to Lake Superior, he was formerly used by traders. Riverside many trading posts were therefore built in the late 18th century. Today it is used for fishing and camping.

The Missinaibi River has the status of a Canadian Heritage River. The headwaters of the Missinaibi River to the confluence of the Brunswick River is also within the Missinaibi Provincial Park.

The name means the Cree language " represented water."
