The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; jap三菱ふそう トラック·バス 株式会社, Mitsubishi Fuso Torakku · Basu Kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Japanese manufacturer of commercial vehicles.

History

The mass production of commercial vehicles (buses, trucks ) started at Mitsubishi in 1932.

Mitsubishi Fuso ( MF) was until January 2003, a spin-off from parent company Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. In the same year the present Daimler AG acquired a stake of 43%; since 2011 it has 89.29 % of the shares of the company. Today is the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation part of the Daimler Trucks Division of Daimler AG, which sells the Mitsubishi Fuso commercial vehicles in Germany. However, only the model Mitsubishi Fuso Canter is sold in Germany since 1981 (as of 2011 ).

Origin of the company name

The first heavy Mitsubishi bus (Model B46 ) was built in the hull and machinery works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Kobe and delivered in May 1932, the Ministry of Railways. On this occasion, the company's employees were asked to make suggestions for an appropriate nickname. The name Fuso made ​​the race. The word Fuso (derived from the Chinese term Fusang ) can be attributed to a sacred tree or a wondrous country with such designated plants. This land was equated in China with Japan.
