Mneme

Mneme (Greek Μνήμη, " the memory " ) in Greek mythology, one of the so-called " Titanic " muses ( in contrast to the now common, mentioned by Hesiod nine Muses ). She is the muse of memory. Her sisters Pausanias are Aoide ( muse of music) and Melete ( muse of meditation, exercise, and practice).

After mneme also the Jupiter moon mneme is named, who discovered in 2003 and was first named S/2003 J 21 is known.

Richard Semon took the view that acquired characteristics can be inherited and turned it on social evolution, for which he proposed the term " mneme " and influenced later research by Karl Lashley ( engram ) and Richard Dawkins (Mem ).
