MODS Disc

Multiplexed Optical Data Storage ( MODS MODS or disc) is an experimental storage medium - is read and written by laser - similar to the Compact Disc, DVD and Blu- ray Disc. Presented was the MODS on 27 September 2004 at the Asia - Pacific Data Storage Conference in Taiwan by researchers from Imperial College London. Market could reach up to 2015, the MODS.

The memory capacity is 250 GB per layer. This is achieved by asymmetric pits and lands (see CD ), which reflect the laser at 332 different angles. A recorded MODS both sides, with two layers per side would come as a terabyte.
