Mogán, Las Palmas

Mogan is a community on the Canary island of Gran Canaria. It has 21,782 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013) over an area of ​​172.43 km ².

Mogan is located south of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and northwest of Puerto Rico. The neighboring municipalities are Tejeda in the north, San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the east and San Nicolás de Tolentino in the northwest. The main town of Mogan is located in the Barranco de Mogan, which is considered one of the most fertile and scenic valleys of Gran Canaria. In Mogan itself, which has developed as a sustained settlement in the midst of fertile farmland on the edge of a steep mountain slopes, is home to around 700 people. Many houses are surrounded by lush gardens and thus constitute a factor for the strong influx of tourists. The gardens were laid out in their diversity only because of the abundance of water in the Barranco de Mogan, which is also true for the predominantly small fields in the valley and on which ripe lemons, mangoes, papayas, eggplant and bananas. In large greenhouses are grown mainly for export cut flowers and ornamental.
