Molkenhaus (Wernigerode)
The whey house in the Harz mountain range in Hasserode in Saxony-Anhalt Harz is a built as a half-timbered house, a former farm building and hunting lodge, which is currently used to manage the Harz National Park.
Geographical location
The whey house is located in the Upper Harz ( Upper Harz ) in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony- Anhalt Harz National Park. It is about 7 km southwest of the Wernigeröder district Hasserode between the racing corner mountain (about 933 m above sea level. NN ) in the west and the north-eastern Hohe Wand ( 758 m above sea level. NN ), on the southeast flank are the ears cliffs, to around 675 m above sea. NN. Less than 2 km south of the building being the Holtemme the 4 km (air line) east-northeast flows beneath the house by the Stone Run.
History
Built by order of the Counts - stolbergischen Upper Hunter Master of Meseberg at the beginning of the 18th century half-timbered building belonged to Ilse Burger Marienhof and served the butter production and for hunting purposes. At the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813) belonged to the canton Ilse castle. It is currently used by the Management of the Harz National Park.
Molkenhaus Star
