Monika Enterprise

Monika Enterprise is an independent record label based in Berlin. It was founded by Gudrun Gut 1997. The label is distributed in Germany via Indigo.

Label history

According to Gudrun Gut they named the label after one of their two goldfish who committed suicide:

"Once upon a time i had two goldfish. The suicide of one of them inspired me to call my label ' Monika Enterprise ' - in memoriam to my beloved goldfish ' Monika ' ... ""

The first release was Quarks limited to 500 copies 7 " Single Again Come / Knocked. 's Indie scene, the song quickly became a hit and published two years later than Kikyo new in a Japanese version. Using the quarks album home followed in October of the same year, the first album of the label

In 2000 published Gudrun Guts band Malaria! Monika on the single cold clear water, which quickly became the Untergrundhit and among other things, Superstar Recordings licensed with numerous remixes of Wolfgang Voigt, Jörg Burger, Barbara Morgenstern and Chicks on Speed ​​appeared.

More albums published by Barbara Morgenstern ( fjords, 2000), Masha Qrella ( Luck, 2002), Contriva (If You Had Stayed ..., 2003), Cobra Killer (76 /77, 2004 ) and James Figurine ( Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake, 2006).

Appeared in 2007 Gudrun Guts Album I Put A Record On, which was positively received by critics.

The label also enjoys a high reputation internationally and already organized Label festivals in Italy, England, Belgium, Poland, Japan, Spain and Argentina.
