Monsieur Klein ( M. Klein ) is a French film directed by Joseph Losey from the year 1976.

Action

1942: The Alsatian Robert Klein lives as an art dealer in German-occupied Paris and doing business with Jews who are in need. One day an issue of a Jewish newspaper it is delivered. Through his efforts, we can delete his name from the list of subscribers of the magazine, he gets in the crosshairs of the prefecture, which makes use of the subscriber list. The movie 1976 was represented at the Cannes Film Festival in competition for the Palme d'Or, where over Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver he had left behind. A year later, Monsieur Klein was seven times nominated for a César and won the most important French film award in the categories of Best Picture, Director and Best Production Design. Nominated for best actor Alain Delon was, however Michel Galabru had to let in The Judge and the Murderer go first.
