Monte Carlo or Bust!

Monte Carlo Rally is a British- French-Italian comedy film directed by Ken Annakin from the year 1969. The film is about a fictional car racing in the 1920s with the aim of Monte Carlo. The premiere of the film took place in New York on 28 May 1969. In Germany the film was released on 18 September 1969 in the cinemas.

Action

In the 1920s, the Monte Carlo Rally is a 1000 km endurance race. The participants start from different points on the target in Monte Carlo.

Participants include Chester Schofield and Sir Cuthbert, the owner of a British car factory. Chester, an American player has won his share of the factory in a poker game with Sir Cuthbert's father. Those who come from the first two, will have the whole factory. Major Dawlish and Lieutenant Barrington, two British officers who consider themselves to be an inventor. The two Italian policemen Pincelli Angelo and Marcello Agosti are womanizer. Otto and Schickel are two German crooks who do not know that the owners of their cars have hidden stolen jewels in the spare tire. In addition there are three French feminists under the leadership of Marie- Claude, a health care professional.

During the race, the participants have to contend with the weather, road conditions and opponents. Chester loses his passenger Cuthbert, but the race continues alone until he meets the beautiful Betty. Otto and Schickel get into a resort and end on a ski lift. In a hotel in the French Alps, the participants come together. The night becomes chaotic, as the rooms are occupied incorrectly. Angelo and Marcello fall with the feminists together. The Germans discover the jewels, but want to continue the race. Betty chauffeured the sleeping Chester over a frozen waterfall.

After the French women have done first aid for accident victims of an avalanche, the racers arrive in Monte Carlo. Since all participants have the same score, a race on the windy mountain roads must bring the decision. Dawlish and Barrington eliminated when their rocket-powered flying into the air. Cuthbert is disqualified for tire theft while Schickel and petrol are arrested and taken away. The Italians are declared winners, they devote their trophy feminists.
