Montgomery Tully

Montgomery Tully ( born May 6, 1904 in Dublin, Ireland as Geoffrey Wycombe Montgomery Tully, † October 10, 1988 in London) was an Irish film director and screenwriter. He has directed over 50 productions directed, including the gangster syndicate, Diamonds, Man in the shadows or the blind spider

Life and career

Montgomery Tully, born in 1904 in Dublin as Geoffrey Wycombe Montgomery Tully, opened in 1929 with his documentary career. In 1937, he turned with co- operetta with Stanley Holloway in the lead role his first short film. This genre he remained faithful even during the Second World War. After the war began to turn Tully 1945 productions for British cinema as a screenwriter and director, a considerable number of low-budget. Between 1945 and 1967, as created numerous productions in the thriller and action movie genre. Among other things, he led in 1957 directed the psychological thriller The blind spider with Skip Homeier, Paul Carpenter, Patricia Dainton and in the lead roles. The film was of Gibraltar Films Ltd.. produced. In smaller supporting roles Alfie Bass and Sean Connery appeared.

Tully turned in his career several times with the actors Zachary Scott and Betty McDowall. Other main characters in his films have included William Hartnell, Dennis O'Keefe, Dan Duryea, Rod Cameron, Richard Arlen, Vincent Ball and Laurence Payne.

Montgomery Tully wrote in his career some 20 screenplays and directed in addition to numerous feature films and several short films and several episodes of British TV series. On October 10, 1988 Tully died at the age of 84 years in his adopted hometown of London.
