Morgan Ringland Wise

Morgan Ringland Wise ( born June 7, 1825 West Bethlehem, Washington County, Pennsylvania, † April 13, 1903 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1879 and 1883 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Morgan Wise attended the common schools and worked himself for some time as a teacher. In 1850 he went to California, where he also prospected at the time of the California gold rush for this precious metal. He also participated in military operations against the Indians. Later he returned to Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Waynesburg College in 1856. He also began to work in agriculture. Politically Wise was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1874 and 1878 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1878 Wise in the 21st electoral district of Pennsylvania was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Jacob Turney on March 4, 1879. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1883 two legislative sessions. Between 1879 and 1881 he headed the craft committee. In 1882 he gave up another candidacy.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Wise Morgan moved to the area of the future state of Arizona, where he raised cattle. Between 1888 and 1900 he was consular agent in the Mexican city of Nogales. He died on April 13, 1903 in Coraopolis.
