Moses Pitakaka

Sir Moses Puibangara Pitakaka GCMG ( born January 24, 1945, † 25 December 2011 Honiara ) was dated 7 July 1994 to July 7, 1999 Governor General of the Solomon Islands.

Life

A native of the province of Choiseul Moses Pitakaka was elected successor to outgoing from office Governor General George Lepping the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands on 16 May 1994. As Governor General Pitakaka cried during the flare-up between 1998 and 2000 ethnic conflict in 1999, a state of emergency.

Pitakaka was married and had children. He died after a long illness on 25 December 2011 at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara. On December 28, he was given a state funeral.
