Mother Angelica

Mother Angelica PCPA ( born April 20, 1923 in Canton, Ohio), originally Rita Antoinette Rizzo, is a Poor Clare of the Order of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration ( poor Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration ). In 1976 she founded the Eternal Word Television Network religious broadcaster in a backyard garage of her monastery in Irondale, Alabama.

Life

Mother Angelica was born Rita Antoinette Rizzo in Canton, Ohio, in a very poor family. She was the only child of John and Helen Mae Rizzo and grew up during the Great Depression. When Rita was nine years old, her father left the family; the marriage of the parents were divorced in 1929. At times also ensured their maternal grandparents for Rita. After graduation in 1941, she contracted a stomach ailment. In 1943 she was converted to a Roman Catholic church woman named Rhoda Wise ( a stigmatic and visionary ) after a Novena to St.. Healed Therese of Lisieux from her stomach ailment. This experience deepened their faith. On 15 August 1944, she entered as a postulant in Cleveland in the Convent of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration one. She worked in the laundry, baked bread, served at the altar and worked in the kitchen of the monastery. Founder of EWTN

In late autumn 2001, Mother Angelica suffered two strokes, which abruptly put an end to their work. On the occasion of her 80th birthday in April 2003, they had their last live appearance on the transmitter. Since then, regular earlier programs ( such as the talk show Mother Angelica 's Live and The Holy Rosary with Mother Angelica and the Nuns ) are repeated.
