Mount Adamello

Adamello from west

The Adamello ( 3554 m slm, Italian Cima Cima Adamello or dell'Adamello ) is a widely dominant peaks in Northern Italy, about 40 km away from the lake and is located in the province of Brescia, near the border with Trentino. He is one of the Southern Alps.

Along with several dozen other three-thousand, it forms the huge Adamello, which measures about 30x30 km and thus of similar areal extent as the adjacent to the north Ortler group. About 15 km north-east of the main summit lowers the massif to the main east -west link of the Tonale Pass ( Passo del Tonale, 1884 m slm ). Along this furrow draws a clearly readable geological fault line (see also Periadriatic seam).

Due to the mountainous surroundings draw some distance trails, such as the Adamello mountain trail ( Alta Via dell ' Adamello, part of the Sentiero Italia ), the sentiero Antonioli and the Bassa Via dell' Adamello. These are sometimes mistakenly counted to the Dolomites - level trails. Part of the peace path crosses the group in memory of the bloody fighting in mountain warfare from 1915 to 1918.
