Moye

Moye is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Moye is on 472 m above sea level. M., near Rumilly, about 17 km west of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends north Albanais, on a ridge between the valleys of the Fier and Parmand, at the eastern foot of the Montagne du Gros Foug.

The area of ​​23.80 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The eastern, shallower part of the municipality is occupied by a ridge, which rises on the other hand between the basin of the valley of the Fier Rumilly respectively on the one hand and the valley of Parmand. The Parmand runs parallel to the eastern foot of the Montagne du Gros Foug in a Mulde valley and empties into the Fier. From Parmand, the municipality's area extends westward over a small valley and marked by projections slope down to the wide, densely forested crest of the Montagne du Gros Foug. Here it is with 1044 m above sea. M. reached the highest elevation of Moye. In the far south, the area dates back to the Valley of the Nephe ( left tributary of the Chéran ).

Neighboring communities of Moye are Lornay in the north, and Vallières Rumilly in the east, and Massingy Cessens in the south and Ruffieux and Serrières -en- Chautagne in the West.

Attractions

The village church of Moye was built in 1837. Nearby several hamlets chapels including the Chapel of Notre -Dame-du -Sacré - Coeur ( 1833) in Poisu. In the municipality there are several castles and stately homes, such as the former Château de la Palud (now a farm ), the Château de Novery and the castles of Montprovent and Mossières. In Saint -Ours in the Middle Ages was a priory.

Population

With 1034 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Moye is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 1265 inhabitants counted in Moye ). Since the early 1980s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded again.
