Rescue a crew member in 2009

A crew member of the Bremen was closing his right hand in an automatic, watertight bulkhead seriously injured. The Bremen was located about 815 km south of Invercargill at this time. Therefore, two helicopters flew from Southland in New Zealand despite bad weather going to bring him to the hospital for a necessary surgery. The man was then brought in heavy seas by winds from the deck of Bremen on board the helicopter because the helicopter due to the stormy sea could not land on the deck. Since the range of the helicopter is only at about 1000 km, they flew on the way back first to Campbell Iceland, where they were refueled. The injured man was initially flown to Southland Hospital, from where he was transferred to Christchurch the next day.
