The Veronica is a hotel ship; it was built in 1966 as a passenger ship for the North Atlantic service between Gothenburg and New York and drove recently as cruise ship flying the flag of the Bahamas.

The ship was built as Kungsholm and later went under the name Sea Princess, Victoria and Mona Lisa. It was founded in 1982, rebuilt in 2001 and 2008 and renovated. 2007, it bore the name of Oceanic II, and the beginning of 2008 it went back under the name Mona Lisa. Since 2010, the ship was as a hotel ship by the name of Veronica in the port of Duqm in Oman.

History

The 1966 in the name Kungsholm baptized ship was first used by the AB Svenska Linjen America, headquartered in Gothenburg in transatlantic service between Gothenburg and New York. In 1975 it was sold to the Flagship Cruises, based in Hamilton and henceforth used as a cruise ship. After a basic conversion on the Bremer Vulkan yard it was renamed Sea Princess. 1978, the front of the original two Chimneys was removed and the rear rebuilt.

In a further modification in 1982 to the Vosper yard in Southampton especially the cabins were completely renewed. In 1985 the ship was named Victoria. After a sale to the Greek shipping company based in Paris Katsoufis Nassau it was renamed again and was named Mona Lisa. Until 2006 it was used by Holiday Cruises. After these insolvency signed up, the ship was chartered to the Spanish cruise line Pullmantur Cruises, which it renamed Oceanic II and temporarily turn passed it on to the Louis Hellenic Cruises. In 2007 it was chartered for a few months to the group The Scholar Ship, which wanted to use it as a floating college.

After a several -month odyssey and a major renovation, the ship received again in early 2008 the name Mona Lisa and was established under the Charter of the German Lord Nelson cruises in the Baltic region as a cruise ship. The ship decreed after the renovation over 88 inside cabins, 283 outside cabins and 8 suites. In one of the first trips as Mona Lisa, the ship came on May 4, 2008 due to a Manövrierfehlers before the Baltic island of Saaremaa in the Irben Straits on a sandbar and ran fixed. Since all Freischleppungsversuche initially failed, the passengers were evacuated by the Latvian Coast Guard and taken to Ventspils. Three days after the accident, the cruise ship was ready to drive again.

In the summer season of 2008 and 2009, the ship under charter by Lord Nelson Travel was used. During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, it served as a hotel ship in the harbor Squamish.

Also under the charter by Lord Nelson sea voyages - - Due to tightened security and fire protection provisions of SOLAS the ship after the end of the 2010 summer season was decommissioned. An initiative from Sweden tried to get the ship as a hotel, restaurant and museum in Gothenburg. After this initiative failed, the ship was laid up in Piraeus and offered for sale. Since the end of October 2010, the ship is for his new owner, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Engineering ( DSME ) Oman, conference venue and restaurant a new city, harbor and shipyard new construction (Oman Drydock ) in Duqm. Since 2011 it has been used under the name of Veronica as a floating hotel. On 3 October 2013, the hotel was closed. The Veronica is now available for sale and, according to information provided by the operator to leave the port of Duqm as soon as possible.
