The Silja Serenade Silja Tallink the Finnish shipping company is used on the route Helsinki - Mariehamn -Stockholm. You (now STX Finland Cruise Oy) built in Turku, Finland in 1990 on the Masa shipyard.
History
The ship was ordered on 26 October 1987 by Effoa for Silja Line traffic. The ship was a revolution in the design of cruise ferries. As the world's first ship was the Silja Serenade a continuous promenade along the entire length of the ship. Due to the promenade, among other things, the number of cabins was almost doubled with window (now you can find such promenades on both almost all new cruise ships as well as the so-called cruise ships with vehicle deck of the Color Line ). In contrast to the newer ships with shopping mile, the two sister ships of Silja Line Silja Serenade and the Silja Symphony no adequate fire protection goals in the promenade. Since the route of the ships, however, in the near-coastal region extends, and subsequently an efficient sprinkler system was installed, the ships has been granted an exemption.
On 15 November 1990, the Silja Serenade was handed over to the founded through the merger of Effoa and Johnson Line EffJohn OY and used on the route Helsinki -Stockholm. Her home port was Helsinki, Finland.
Back in 1992, moved to its home port to Mariehamn and was able to earn through lower tax burdens, more money with the on-board private casino. With the commissioning of the Silja Europa Silja Serenade 1993, was moved to the route Turku - Mariehamn -Stockholm. Unequal sisters
There are some small differences with her sister ship Silja Symphony. Thus, the outer decks on the Silja Serenade are green while they are painted blue on the Silja Symphony. The eyes of the harbor seal on the chimney of the Silja Serenade are white, with a blue border, while the seal on the Silja Symphony has blue eyes. The lamp box with the name of the ship is illuminated in blue on the Silja Serenade, while the name of the Silja Symphony lights up in blue on a white background. When sister ship are the top superstructure made of aluminum, which is why the Silja Serenade is slightly heavier and has a higher center of gravity, resulting in slightly worse properties at higher seas.
