The Stena Vision is a RoRo ferry the Swedish Stena Line, which is used in ferry traffic on the Baltic Sea.

History

The Stena Vision was founded in 1981 at the shipyard in Gdynia (Poland ) Keel-laying, originally known as Stena Scandinavica. It was not completed until the end of 1986 due to delays in the construction and sailed since 7 April 1987 as Stena Germanica together with her sister ship Stena Scandinavica (now Stena Spirit ) almost constantly every day the 441 km long overnight route between Kiel and Gothenburg.

In February and March 1999 80 passenger cabins were dismantled in favor of a larger vehicle deck under a shipyard stay. In 2007, she underwent a renovation.

To expand the capacity of a heavily used route between Kiel and Gothenburg, the shipping company decided to replace the two now over 20 years old ships with larger and newer. Then the Stena Germanica was replaced by the Stena Hollandica On September 1, 2010. Your sister ship Stena Scandinavica was replaced for April 20, 2011 by the Stena Britannica.

As the name Germanica and Scandinavica are traditionally reserved for ships on the route Kiel- Gothenburg, it was during a subsequent shipyard stay in fall 2010 Stena Vision renamed. On this occasion it was also partially repainted, a panoramic windscreen was integrated into one of the front cabins on the port side, the two vehicle ramps were adjusted for the new investors, as well as integrating a third vehicle ramp at the rear. Since November 4, 2010, Stena Vision is running on the route between Gdynia (Poland) and Karlskrona (Sweden). Your sister ship, the Stena Spirit followed in summer 2011.

Due to a delay in delivery by the shipyard for the construction of the first two ships, the last two ships were canceled again during the construction phase and its largely finished hull was sold. The envisaged as Stena Polonica ship was completed in Greece and continues today as El. Venizelos in the Greek ANEK Lines. The envisaged as Stena Baltica ship was spent in 1989 to Greece, renamed there in Regent Sky and partially rebuilt a cruise ship. However, it is not completed until today. The hull was until July 2011 in Piraeus and was then towed to Aliaga for scrapping.
