Vesterålen is a ship of the Hurtigruten ASA and travels to the Hurtigruten along the coast of Norway in regular service. The ship's name refers to a group of islands about 300 km north of the Arctic Circle off the coast of Norway. It is now the third ship in the Hurtigruten, which carries this name. The first Vesteraalen from 1892 was the first Hurtigruten ship that left the port of Trondheim towards Hammerfest on July 2, 1893.

History

Construction, commissioning and operation
