Muammer Güler

Muammer Güler (born 21 March 1949 in Mardin ) is a Turkish politician of the Justice and Development Party (AKP ).

Life

His father was the postmaster Mahmut Muhtar Güler, his mother's name was Latife Güler. Güler was the second oldest of six brothers and two sisters. The family left Mardin, when he was five years old. Muammer Güler graduated in 1972 to study law at the University of Ankara. Muammer Güler was deputy Kaymakam in Çal, Kaymakam in Pehlivanköy and Khorasan. From 1982 he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Interior. Later he was governor in Nigde, Kayseri, Gaziantep and Samsun. In 2003 he was governor of Istanbul. Güler was elected in 2011 as MP for Mardin for the ruling AKP in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. From 25th January 2013 to December 2013 Güler served as successor to İdris Naim Şahin Interior Minister of Turkey Erdogan III in Cabinet. He entered as a result of the corruption scandal in Turkey in 2013 from his post as interior minister.

Güler is married and father of two children.
