Mubarak Hassan Shami

Mubarak Hassan Shami (Arabic: مبارك حسن شامي Mubarak Hassan Shami, DMG Mubarak Ḥasan Sami, maiden name Richard Yatich; born December 1, 1980) is a Qatari long-distance runner Kenyan origin.

Since 2004 he start for Qatar. On the occasion of his nationality change, he accepted an Arab name.

In 2005 he won the Vienna City Marathon, as well as the Venice Marathon and was second at the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton. The following year he won the Prague Marathon. In the road race World Championships 2006 in Debrecen, he was eighth.

In 2007, he won the Paris Marathon in his personal best time of 2:07:19 h the marathon the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka, he won the silver medal behind Luke Kibet (KEN ) and before Röthlin (SUI ).
