Muhammad Ali (drummer)

Muhammad Ali ( born December 23, 1936 in Philadelphia as Raymond Patterson ) is an American drummer of free jazz.

Life

Ali worked with Alan Shorter, Don Ayler Albert Ayler and with whom he recorded also. With the band by Frank Wright in 1969 he came to Europe, where he settled in Paris. He played for many years with Wright Center of the World (which included Bobby Few and Alan Silva included ), but also took Saheb Sarbib, Archie Shepp, Michel Pilz / Itaru Oki and Hans Dulfer on. For some time he plays with Noah Howard. In October 2006, he joined with Dave Burrell, Reggie Workman and his brother, playing with drummer Rashied Ali similar stylistics, in Philadelphia to celebrate the 80th birthday of John Coltrane on.
