Muhammed IV, Sultan of Granada

Muhammad IV (* 1315, † 1333) was Emir of Granada from 1325 to 1333.

Muhammad IV was a minor succeeded his father Ismail I ( 1314-1325 ). First, he had to fend off the attacks of Castile, the emirate of the Nazarite among others at the Battle of Teba ( 1330) suffered significant defeats and territorial losses. To protect against this threat, the Castilian Marinids from Morocco were called again to Al -Andalus. Thus began the second intervention of the Moroccan dynasty in Europe. With the help of these troops, and the Fleet Support the Republic of Genoa in 1333 succeeded the conquest of Algeciras and Gibraltar, which lost its strong position in Castile at this strait to the Nazarite. However, Muhammad IV could not exploit his success, because he was murdered shortly after the conquest of these cities.
