Geography

Geographical location

Mühlingen is located in the northeast corner of the Hegau at the transition to the Swabian Alb. Through the municipality runs the Stockacher Aach.

Neighboring communities

The municipality borders the the district of Konstanz belonging communities Hohenfels (southeast), Stockach (south) and Eigeltingen ( southwest), to the communities Emmingen- Liptingen (northwest) and Neuhausen ob Eck (north) in the district of Tuttlingen and to the community Sauldorf ( Northeast) in the district of Sigmaringen.

History

Mühlingen was first mentioned in documents in 1275. Since 1506 the place belonged to the Counts of Tengen - Nellenburg, but fell already in 1591 after their extinction to the Counts of Hohenzollern. In 1698 bought Johann Philipp Jakob Ebinger from the castle ( * 1672, † 1712), the basic rule Mühlingen. This was in 1730 built the still existing Mühlingen castle. 1731 was the basic and local government by selling to the Barons von Buol - Berenberg. Religions

Mühlingen is predominantly Roman Catholic. Even today there is only one Catholic church, each with a house of worship in Zoznegg, Main cheeks, Gallman Weil and Mühlingen. The evangelical believers are served by Stockach from.

Districts

Because Gallman

For the first time in 1346 Gallman Because was mentioned. First, the place belonged to the Counts of Nellenburg, later the Knights of Heudorf and arrived in 1656 at the Princely House of Fürstenberg. The old coat of arms of Mühlingen shows in red a golden eight-spoked water wheel; the new of a bent- red tip, wherein an eight-spoked golden mill wheel split; front in silver on green Dreienberg a green fir tree, located at the rear in gold three, four ended blue stag antlers above the other.

Mayor of Mühlingen is Manfred Jüppner. He has held the post since August 1, 1983.

Museums

  • The Radio Museum is a private museum existing since May 2011. It shows around 400 exhibits, which come mostly from Germany, but also from Sweden, France, Austria, Japan or America. Exhibits include the casket Radio " The gentleman in evening dress " or probably one of the first radio alarm clock from Philips " Philetta Chrono". Economy and infrastructure

Mühlingen is still heavily reliant on agriculture. However, there are also a number of smaller industrial, craft, trade and service enterprises.

Traffic

The district Schwackendorf Reute was until 1971 a railway junction, where the railway line Altshausen Schwacke Reute branched off from the hegau Ablachtal train. In the 1970s, both routes were shut down for the passenger and later the rails towards Altshausen dismantled so that Schwackendorf Reute now has a rail connection more.

Education

In the district Mühlingen there is a primary school and in the district Zoznegg high school. In addition, there are two districts in each kindergarten.
