Munich-Giesing–Kreuzstraße railway

The railway line Munich -Giesing Cross Road is a single-track, continuous electrified railway in the south of Munich. It was opened in 1902-1912 and 1972/73 integrated in the Munich S-Bahn network. The circuit is characterized by the fact that they, despite their extensive sequence by rural embossed area has continuous train operation.

Route

The route branches off to the south of Ständlerstraße, from between the train station Munich -Giesing and the breakpoint Fasanengarten, of the Munich East Deisenhofen. After a few hundred meters with two tracks the route is single track and leads first to the east towards Munich -Perlach. The Federal Highway 8 is crossed. After Perlachturm station, the route turns south-east and reaches the breakpoint Neuperlach South. This is on a bridge over the Carl- Wery -Straße and is the only one in Munich with a so-called combined platform, on the U- Bahn and S -Bahn share a common platform.

In the course of the route now passes through communities Neubiberg and Ottobrunn, and thus through densely built-up area. After crossing the Munich ring road and the national highway 471 reaches distance Hohenbrunn and thus already has a strong rural character area. The following stations and stops are, with the exception of height Church Siegertsbrunn in towns with only some hundreds of inhabitants. In particular, the community Aying is accessed through four break points or stations in small towns, especially Dürrnhaar Aying, Peiß and Großhelfendorf. After the last stop, the route finally runs in a southwesterly direction down to cross road in the municipality Valley, where it meets the Mangfalltalbahn from Rosenheim to wooden churches. History

The originally circulating only between Munich -Giesing and Aying local railway was one of the last railroad radial lines between the capital and residence city of Munich and its surroundings. Since 1892, the municipalities Peiß, Help village, Egmating, Siegertsbrunn, Hohenbrunn, height churches, Brunnthal and Oberframmern tried to build a railway line. For now, however, the railway line from Munich East Deisenhofen was given preference. South of Aying / Peiß the route should lead after the first planning on helping the village to Grub. There would have been connecting to the Mangfalltalbahn. Also up for discussion was a guide in the direction west to Otter Began the route from Deisenhofen by wooden churches, or directly to wooden churches. 1971/72 the line was electrified in the course of the development of the Munich S-Bahn. On 28 May 1972, and the opening day of the S -Bahn, the part before the High Brunn became the line S1 ( Freising -Munich- Cross Road ), with train and bus connections towards Aying and cross street. On September 30, 1973, that were abandoned and the S-Bahn went beyond Hohenbrunn.

Traffic

The trunk is used along the entire length of the line S7 S-Bahn Munich. Between Munich and Hoehenkirchen -Siegertsbrunn a 20 - minute cycle is offered to and from Aying a 20/40-Minuten-Takt, and to Kreuzstraße an hourly service.
