Murray Heatley

Murray Heatley ( born November 7, 1948 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things for the Minnesota Fighting Saints and Indianapolis Racers in the World Hockey Association. His sons, Dany and Mark are also professional hockey players.

Career

Murray Heatley studied at the University of Wisconsin -Madison and played for their hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In his youth he had also played baseball. During the 1970/71 season he gained his first experience in the Central Hockey League and went in six games for the Tulsa Oilers on the ice. In the following season the winger made ​​a breakthrough in the Central Hockey League and Heatley became the 1972/73 season committed by the Phoenix Roadrunners of the Western Hockey League. In his only season with the Roadrunners, he finished the regular season with 98 points as the second best scorer in the league. Following Heatley went to the Minnesota Fighting Saints in the World Hockey Association. Four seasons, he graduated in the WHA and went for the Indianapolis Racers on the ice.

During this time he played together with Wayne Connelly, Pat Stapleton and Mike Walton. During the 1975/76 season he also had a commitment to the Mohawk Valley Comets of the North American Hockey League. From 1977 to 1980 Heatley played for the SC Riessersee in the hockey league. After completing his debut season in which he won the German championship with the team, he was elected to the All-Star team in the league. Later, the Canadians continued his career with the ERC Freiburg, with whom he reached the 1981 rise in the Hockey League. For the 1985/86 season, he accepted an offer of EHC Olten of the National League A and went as one of three foreigners in addition to Roberto Lavoie and Mike Nash on the ice.
