Murtuz Alasgarov

Murtuz Alasgarow ( Azerbaijani: Murtuz Nəcəf oglu Ələsgərov; born September 20, 1928 in Kirovabad, Soviet Union; † August 7, 2012 in Baku ) was an Azerbaijani legal scholar, university teacher and politician who was Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including several years.

Life

After schooling Alasgarow graduated in law at the State University of Baku and was after graduating with a Doctor of Science first senior teacher and later lecturer at the Law Faculty of the State University worked before he there in 1954 Professor and in 1957 Dean of the Law Faculty been. In 1965 he became Dean of the Faculty of constitutional law and was last 1993-1996 Rector of Baku State University.

1995 Alasgarow was as a candidate of the New Azerbaijan Party ( Yeni Azərbaycan Partiyası ) for the first time deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Milli Məclis ) and represented in this up to his waiver of a renewed bid for health reasons until November 2010 the constituency Qaradağ.

On October 16, 1996, he was the successor of Rasul Guliyev as Speaker of the National Assembly and thus Parliament President. The Office of the Parliament speaker knew Alasgarov until his replacement by Ogtay Asadov on 2 December 2005.

For his many years of service as a legal scholar and politician, he has won several awards and received, among other things, the Commonwealth of Independent States Sodrujestvo Medal (CIS ) countries Order of Friendship of Russia and the Istiqlal Order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
