Mutiny on the Bounty (disambiguation)

Mutiny on the Bounty is the title of films, plays and books, based on the historically documented event of a mutiny on the Bounty, a three-masted sailing ship of the British Admiralty, which broke up in 1787 under the leadership of Lieutenant William Bligh on a trip to the South Seas, by cuttings of the breadfruit tree from Tahiti to bring to the West Indies.

Films

Was the screenplays of the films, with one exception, in 1984, of the eponymous novel from the famous Bounty Trilogy by Charles Bernard Nordhoff and James Norman Hall is based. Although the representation of William Bligh as a brutal captain hit the taste of the public, the correctness is but historically contentious.

In addition, a multi-part television film titled Island of the mutineers in 1989 produced and directed by Francois Leterrier. In the works is a film adaptation of the novel The Island by Robert Merle. Although the plot and the names of the protagonists have been modified, the parallels to the bounty events are clearly visible. The film tries to give an answer as to what happened to the mutineers on Pitcairn immediately after the mutiny and sociological problems which occurred there.

In 2007 the ZDF documentary Bounty logbook. Produce The Riddle of the mutiny of color field blank ( Written and directed by Petra Höfer and Freddie Röckenhaus ). In it, the restorer Antony Zammit comes from the Mitchell Library in Sydney, Australia, where Bligh's logs are kept to word. During the restoration of the second volume he noticed that the captain has replaced later pages, including the day of the mutiny.
