Myanmar Railways

Myanma Railways ( burmese မြန်မာ့ မီးရထား ) is the name of the state railway operations of Myanmar.

The history

After the Second British - Burmese War, the British conquered in 1852 under Burma. In 1886, the first railway line was Rangoon - Letpandan opened the way to Prome ( Pyay now ) has been extended to 257 km in 1877. First, the route of Irrawaddy State Railways operated. The technical condition after 1988

The locomotives

Since 1988, because of the political situation, the People's Republic of China (PRC ) and India the main suppliers of locomotives. Experts estimate Myanma Railways needed annually about 6 million U.S. $ for the maintenance of older Alstom diesel-electric locomotives. 1993 got Myanma Railways the first Chinese locomotive from the Dalian plant in the Liaoning province. In October 1996, Myanma Railways ordered 10 diesel-electric locomotives CKD7 (1250 kW) from the Dalian plant, CNR Corporation, PR China. 2005 made ​​the first delivery of four diesel locomotives YDM 4 (1350 hp) of Rites Ltd.. from India into Myanmar. There followed in 2007 five locomotives and in February 2008 15 locomotives of the same series. On 21 April 2008 Myanma Railways ordered from YMEC, China 20 diesel locomotives Eleckto (2000 hp). September 1, 2009 Myanma Railways of PRC gets 5 diesel locomotives as a gift of friendship, the specifications are unknown. On October 19, 2010 Myanma Railways received 35 Sifang ( Qingdao Sifang / 1000 hp) diesel - hydraulic locomotives as 3rd stage friendship gift from PRC.

The railway wagons

Myanma Railways in 2005 received 20 new wagons of the Rites Ltd.. from India. In September 2006, China donated 130 cars (used from Yunnan ). On September 1, 2009, China donated 20 passenger cars and 200 freight cars to Myanma Railways. On October 19, 2010 Myanma Railways received 150 persons wagons and 200 freight cars of the People's Republic of China as a gift of friendship. It is unknown whether the cars are new or used. From India ordered the MR have been delivered final on May 2, 2013. There are 20 new diesel locomotives ( 1350HP ), 20 persons, 100 bulk, 100 containers and 50 timber transport wagons, and seven 50 -ton and 30-ton six -Road Mobile Cranes.
