Náměšť na Hané

Náměšt na Hané ( German Namiescht ) is a small town (called Městys ) in Okres Olomouc in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 kilometers west of Olomouc in the field of Haná.

Geography

Náměšt na Hané lies at the foot of Drahany country on the edge of the Upper Moravian Valley ( Hornomoravský úval ) at the mouth of the creek Baběnec in the Šumice.

Neighboring towns are Biskupství and Senička ( Kleinzinitz ) in the north, Senice na Hané ( Großzinitz ) in the Northeast, Loučany ( According to Chan) in the east, Drahanovice ( Drahanowitz ) in the south, Olbramice ( Obramitz ) in the west and Nové Dvory in the northwest.

History

Náměšt na Hané was first mentioned in 1141 in a freight directory of the Olomouc Bishop Heinrich Zdik. A part of the former village was in possession of the Olomouc Cathedral Chapter, the greater part belonged to the Moravian small nobles who called themselves by Namiescht. King John of Bohemia rose Namiescht 1319 the little town, which he simultaneously granted a weekly market and later granted the privilege of a carnival. The first time mentioned in 1371 fort was the administrative center of the small manorial system. For the years 1423-1482 also a castle is occupied, which should protect the episcopal possessions probably, but was later abandoned. 1536-1594 was Namiescht owned by the Lords of Vrbno. During their rule, the old fort was converted into a small Renaissance castle, which was later referred to as the Lower Castle. It was rebuilt after the devastation of the Thirty Years' War and the Baroque style in the early 18th century. 1726 came the reign of Count Aloys Thomas Raimund Namiescht of Harrach. His successor, Count Ferdinand Bonaventura Harrach, built on a hill called the Upper Castle, which is surrounded by a circular landscaped park, leading to the four directions Lindenallen. Below is a textile factory and then a brewery was established in the Lower Castle 1765-1768 first. 1780-1916 was Namiescht owned by the Count Kinsky, then it belonged to the expropriation in 1945 Ottahal family.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Namiescht 1850 a municipality in the district of Olomouc. 1949 Biskupství was incorporated in 1974 and 1980 Loučany Olbramice. Since 1990 Loučany and Olbramice form independent communities again. Since January 23, 2007 Náměšt na Hané again has the status of a Městys.
