Namibia Ice and InLine Hockey Association

The Namibia Ice and Inline Hockey Association (short: NIIHA, formerly Namibia Inline Skating Association ( NISA ) ) is responsible for the ice and inline sports federation in Namibia and also organizes the Namibian Inline Hockey National Team. The NIIHA is an affiliate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

History

The beginning of the line sport began with the return of a Swakopmunders from the U.S., as this brought his first inline skates. The sport became more popular and there were many foreign coaches from Europe and North America recruited.

Clubs

In Namibia, inline hockey is played primarily. Hockey is not actively operating in Namibia, where Namibian teams regularly travel to hockey training to South Africa. The construction of an ice rink in Windhoek is planned for 2004.

  • Cazadores - Windhoek ( DHPS sports field)
  • Kamikaze - Windhoek ( DTS sports grounds )
  • Badgers - Windhoek ( Windhoek Showgrounds )

Divisions

In the Namibian Inline Hockey there are 10 Series:

  • U8 Division (players up to 8 years and younger)
  • U10 Division (players 9-10 years)
  • U12 Division (players 11-12 years)
  • U14 Division (players 13-14 years)
  • U16 Division (players 15-16 years)
  • U18 Division (players 17 to 18 years)
  • Open Division (players over 18 years)
  • Ladies Division ( women)
  • Master Division ( Men )
  • Senior Division ( seniors)

League mode

Due to the increasing popularity of the sport in Namibia was converted to the North American league system for the 2011 season for Major League "Open Division ". Accordingly, each club organized two tournaments per year, attended by two other teams. The points gained then serve the qualification for the Namibian championship tournament in November.
