Norwegian Ice Hockey Association

The Norges Ishockeyforbund ( Norwegian Ice Hockey Federation ) is the national hockey association with Norway's seat in the house of sport ( Idrettens Hus ) at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. The association is one of the sports federations of the Norwegian Sports Association and a full member of the International Ice Hockey Federation ( IIHF ). He is an umbrella organization of 90 Hockey clubs and departments from nine regional associations, in which about 11,000 members are active (as of February 2010). Current president is Ole - Jacob Libæk.

History

The association was founded on September 18, 1934 and incorporated into the International Ice Hockey Federation on 20 January 1935.

By the Association in Oslo, the Olympic Hockey Tournament was held in 1952, which was considered the 19th Ice Hockey World Championship and 30 Hockey Championship at the same time. Also host the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1958 and the World Cup of 1999 men fell into the organization Norges Ishockeyforbund.

Tasks

The association takes care mainly to the implementation of the Games of the Norwegian national ice hockey team and the women's team and the junior teams. In addition, the association organizes the sport at club level, including in the GET ligaen, the highest professional league in the Norwegian Ice Hockey.
