Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet

Nathalie Kosciusko- Morizet ( in France often called NKM; born May 14, 1973 in Paris, France ) is a French engineer and politician (UMP ). She is a Member of the French National Assembly. Previously, she was first Secretary of State for Ecology, then for future issues and the development of the digital economy, and finally Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing. In the 2012 presidential election, she was spokesperson for the re-election campaign of President Nicolas Sarkozy. On 21 February 2012, she therefore resigned as environment minister. The beginning of 2013 she resigned her also Mayor of the City of Longjumeau, in order to concentrate on the elections for mayor in Paris, which took place on 23 March and on 30 March 2014. She defeated Anne Hidalgo of the PS.

Life

She comes from an old French family of politicians with Polish origins. Her grandfather Jacques Kosciusko- Morizet was French Ambassador (1957-1978) and mayor of Saint -Nom -la- Bretèche. Her father François Kosciusko- Morizet is Mayor of Sèvres. Even more of their ancestors were active in French politics, as her great-grandfather André Morizet, founder of the Communist Party of France, which Senator, a local councilor and mayor was. Kosciusko- Morizet studied at the École polytechnique and the Collège des Ingénieurs. She is the sister of the French entrepreneur Pierre Kosciusko- Morizet, founder of the site for online purchases PriceMinister. Nathalie Kosciusko- Morizet is married to an art professor Jean -Pierre Philippe and has two children.

2002 until joining the government in 2007 she was deputy in the National Assembly for the department of Essonne. From 2008, she was also Mayor of Longjumeau and 2004-2010 Regional Councillor for Ile- de -France. After the 2007 parliamentary elections it was as Secretary of State for Ecology in the government of François Fillon called (Cabinet Fillon II). After the defeat Sarkozy was elected in the subsequent parliamentary elections back to MPs for Essonne. She announced her candidacy for the presidency of the UMP, but did not reach the necessary application for the number of supporters. In this context, she founded " La France droite ", a political trend within the UMP.

On February 14, 2013 Kosciusko- Morizet gave her application known to the candidacy for the UMP as mayor of Paris, for which she shortly afterwards resigned her post as mayor of Longjumeau. In the open code of the UMP in Paris, she sat down with almost 60 percent in the first ballot clearly against their competitors by three. Polls predicted a close decision between the guided her list of UMP and the evidence given by the by the Parti Socialiste electoral alliance to Anne Hidalgo for the election at the end of March 2014. Anne Hidalgo was elected as the first woman to head the French capital.
