Nathan Paetsch

Nathan Paetsch ( born March 30, 1983 in LeRoy, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since July 2012 at the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League contract.

Career

Paetsch began his career in 1999 as a 16- year-old in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors. In the season 2000/ 01 he was awarded the Defender of the Year in a team - internal choice and named after the season by the WHL for the playoff MVP. He also played in the 2001 CHL Top Prospects Game. Nathan Paetsch was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 by the Washington Capitals as 58 in the second round, but there was no contract between the Capitals and he concluded. Therefore, he was again added to the draft list for the NHL Entry Draft in 2003, in which he was selected in the seventh round as 202 of the Sabres.

In the same year he finished his commitment to the WHL and started his professional career with the Sabres farm team, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League. There he could from one year to improve its yield point and established himself within the team, which named him 2005/ 06 for the Most Valuable Player of the season. His first NHL game he played on January 7, 2006 for the Sabres, where he reached his first NHL point scorer. Although he returned to this one game to Rochester, but was recalled to the squad of Sabres due to a series of injuries to the defenders of the Sabres during the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2006. He debuted in the NHL playoffs in the seventh game of the Eastern Conference - Finals against the Carolina Hurricanes. From the summer of 2006 Paetsch was permanently in the NHL squad, but not succeeded, to work out a regular place. In March 2010 he was released along with a draft pick in exchange for Raffi Torres to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In July 2010 he signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers. In October 2010, he was traded from Florida to the Vancouver Canucks, who loaned him to the Rochester Americans. However, the 2010/11 season he spent mostly at the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL before the defender in June 2011 was awarded a contract with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. For the 2012/13 season of Canadians has been committed by the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Internationally

Nathan Paetsch represented his country at the World U -17 Hockey Challenge in 2000 and the U18 Four Nations Cup. He also was a member of the U20 National Team Canada at the Junior World Championships in 2002 and 2003, with whom he each lost the final against Russia and won the silver medal.
