2002 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships

The 26th U20 Junior World Championships were held this year be held as follows:

A total of 34 teams took part in these U20 World Championships. By increasing the Divisions I and II each have twelve teams ( host mode, as with the seniors), there were changes in the arrangements for the ascent and descent. The Russian U20 team won their eleventh overall Junior World Cup title and became once again the sole record title holder.
