Jason Spezza

Jason Anthony Rocco Spezza ( born June 13, 1983 in Mississauga, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player of Italian descent who is currently playing for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League.

Career

His time as a junior Spezza began in 1998 when the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League. Even then, his talent was recognized and he came up with 16 years to a few missions in the Canadian National Team. To his second OHL season, he moved to his native town just outside of Toronto to the Mississauga IceDogs. His third season brought a team change. Shortly after the start of the season went on his trip to the Windsor Spitfires.

Excellent 86 points in 41 games reaffirmed his extraordinary talent and so it was no surprise that he was already considered as a second behind Ilya Kovalchuk in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 by the Ottawa Senators that this draft law as part of a swap deal with the New York had received Islanders for Alexei Yashin. Even his final junior season then brought a change. He left mid-season Windor and played for the Belleville Bulls. After the end of the playoffs, he came to some inserts in the final round of the AHL for the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The jump to the NHL failed Spezza right away and so he began the 2002/03 season in the farm team the Senators at the Binghamton Senators. The second half of the season, he played in the NHL and was good but not outstanding. The following season he was not even on Topstar level. The season 2004/ 05 he spent back in Binghamton and was named most valuable player in the league with the Les Cunningham Award. In addition, he was honored by his 117 points with the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the best scorer. His 85 goals were a prepared Saisonbestmarke and the second-best in the history of the American Hockey League.

In the 2005/06 season he scored 90 points scorer in 68 games. In the 2006/07 season Spezza shot while almost twice as many goals as last season, but he prepared less before. At the end, there were 87 points to book. In November 2007, Spezza agreed on a contract extension with maturity of seven years, which guaranteed him a salary of 49 million U.S. dollars.

During the NHL lockout of 2012/13 season Spezza playing for the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A.
